| Volunteers and community development: Please don’t ask me to do anything by Jim Vopat and Bob Miller An interactive workshop that explores volunteer development using the real volunteer needs of the participants. How to ask for help and the ways to say “no” when someone asks you. This workshop will also discuss the success story of CLAW, which will enjoy contributions from several hundred volunteers this year. How you will benefit from this presentation: Volunteer Development and Outreach are the building blocks of any event or community development. Attendees will participate with real volunteer needs, and respond to each other in small groups about asking for help and answering when you are asked. Real life examples from the producers of CLAW, which went from a bar night in 2002 to the national organization it is today. How this presentation will arouse you: Attendees will be learning and growing with each other. They will make real life connections that will develop their communities. About the presenters: Robert Miller is Founder and Chairman of CLAW, a large annual convention in Cleveland and a national leather charity that has donated over $90,000 to important community organizations. Bob is a retired attorney who is involved in progressive politics. He lives in southwest Michigan with his partner, co-presenter James Vopat. James Vopat has been involved with CLAW since 2003. He is a writer and frequent keynote and workshop leader in the areas of writing and professional development. |
