| Putting the sex back into leather by Frederic Harwood, Greg L and Carol Queen For the past couple years, we've been asking folks "Where did the sex go?” In the push for acceptance, many organizations and communities have distanced themselves even more from frank discussions of sexuality. Sometimes it appears that even leather groups are disavowing sex, in what we believe is a dishonest tactic to evade local zoning regulations and liquor laws. In this workshop, we will discuss how we can put sex back on the political agenda. How you will benefit from this presentation: Information to come. How this presentation will arouse you: Information to come. About the presenter: Frederic Harwood is an Advisory board member of Woodhull Freedom Foundation, a board member emeritus of Black Rose, elected to three terms. He served as Board Secretary, coordinated BR’s first-ever strategic planning retreat, and helped lead the comprehensive rewrite of the BR bylaws. He served as BR’s representative to NCSF, and has presented at LLC and the Gender Pac national conference. In his role as founder and executive director of a Washington DC business association, he served on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Task Force to rewrite the city’s liquor regulations, which, with the help of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, repealed alcohol regulations that prohibited BDSM and other adult behaviors in the city’s nightlife establishments. Greg L has served the BDSM community for well over a decade spending a good part of it as Board Member of Black Rose (six years on the board with three as Chairman). However, his true love lies in “throwing the big party.” Greg Co-Chaired the Black Rose Annual event five times. He is a founding partner in both Leather Retreat and Dark Odyssey which together hold 3 large conventions each year focused on blending the various aspects of the sex positive community. Carol Queen is a well-known activist, performer, teacher and author Carol Queen is a national figure in the campaign for sexual freedom. She founded and is currently president of The Center for Sex and Culture and serves on the board of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation and Federation. Carol has written extensively on LGBT subjects and on alternative sexuality. |
